Sporting Bet backgammon- is it beatable?
So I just noticed that sporting bet has backgammon. Given the fact that their poker is pretty terrible, I was wondering if anyone here knew how their backgammon games are, and if it's possible to consistently beat the rake.
Or should I just try and stick with play65/gammonempire (i usually play 50cents-2dollars a game - im at about an intermediate level) Thanks in advance. |

Bump from the dead.
I also had a look at the Sportingbet site and saw this. Anyone tried it, any comments? I see they have freeroll BG tournaments. |

i don't think there is much money in backgammon unless you are an expert player. I figure to break even so I play true money games even though i hear the players are bad at gammon empire. Never bothered to try it since I play for fun and dont expect to win much if at all until im an expert player.

I saw the freerolls had quite a few takers today. Guess I'll give em a try sometime. I agree that there probably isn't enough money in online BG at the minuteto be profitable.

Re: Sporting Bet backgammon- is it beatable?
actually, i think play65/gammonempire has enough money to be profitable, if you are playing perfect (as near perfect as humanly possible anyway) backgammon. even if you are playing intermediate backgammon, there are quite a few people under 1500 there who will play you for small stakes.
of course, it's not as profitable as poker at all, but it's nice to win a few bucks here or there. the 30k guaranteed might actually be +ev depending on how many players enter, which is usually less than what makes up 30k in prizepool money |
