As in, if I want to buy a painting, lets say a max of like 5k, what I should get. Or is there any new artist that is kinda famous but not that famous that I could look at. I know random, but hey maybe someone knows something...

Thanks for the support. I started the site recently and it keeps changing. I've lately been adding new images daily, which is forcing me to keep shooting... Anyways, thanks.

What kind of art do you like? I know which artists I enjoy, but I'm not sure if it would match your taste. I'd have to say that if I was going to spend a good amount of money on a painting, I would get a Warhol or a Keith Haring piece.
There are also lots of new artists that will have artwork for a lot cheaper than this, but they have great [censored]. |

So, I just threw out a number (obviously I would like to get more for less), not trying to be pretentious. I like impressionist art alot. I also like work by Kandinsky and work by Rothko, to try and give you an example of stuff that I like.

ebay and artbyus.com are pretty good places to look for art, you could probably find something you really like, for really cheap.

If you want something contemporary then spend less than 5k and like everyone said, buy something you like (assuming you're talking painting here).
If you're trying to invest in older art 5k isn't much to work with for anything that you can be realtively sure will appreciate in value. So, do what everyone in the thread said, and buy something you like. My gf is just getting started as a dealer, just picked up her first client a few weeks ago. Can definitely hook you up with awesome stuff for cheap, just trying to get her and her client's names out there. PM me if you want more info. |
