Re: River block turned call...
What was your reasoning on the flop check/call? I think this is a great, great board to checkraise.

[/ QUOTE ] So you don't think that anybody would slowplay a 6 here? Because to me something does mesh right with this action-he has a 6 and is trying to get you to put some more money in. Once you bet the turn he says "great, he's giving me some bite-let's raise and hope he has an ace or something." I'm not saying this is definitely the case and obviously a bluff is possible but I wouldn't say that this line is at all inconsistent with having a 6. Also, I would almost always check/call the river instead of betting and exposing myself to your situation. |

Re: River block turned call...
There is no hand he has wtih a 6 in it, at least I don't think. I also think he would be the turn with the straight be it A or 6.

Until the turn, there's no reason why he can't have any hand. He raised preflop, put in a cont. bet and never had to call a raise so he could be making a move with 67 or AJ on the flop. As for the turn, I guess this is read-dependent but I never rule out the possibility of somebody slowplaying a monster with position on the turn. |

Re: River block turned call...
what does your flop check-call mean to him? what hands would you check-call this flop with? overpair? 4 + pair? 4x? could he possibly put in your range a set?

Re: River block turned call...
My calling range is probably straight, set, pair. I probably raise with a combo.

Re: River block turned call...
I don't know how he plays, but your river bet is kind of brutal if you're not planning on calling the raise.

Re: River block turned call...
Yeah, right after I made it I groaned. Was trying to block but that was too small. I'm really good at paying off like a slot machine on the river. So I'm trying to improve that via blocking bets.

Re: River block turned call...
I don't really understand the logic behind the blocking bet to begin with. You think that check-folding here is too weak?
What is he going to bluff with here ... 99? KQ? You know the competition a lot better obviously but it sounds like most bets on the river would be A's. |
