Why not raise the flop?

I think you played it fine, trying to get MP3 in on the flop is OK but you could also raise because you have equity and could take a free card on the turn. I would just suggest that if you would like quality responses that you post a few less hands and that these go in the micros.

with no agression show preflop, the sb may be trying to steal the pot- raise the flop, and he may throw it away right there... if not, you still get the free card... if he 3-bets, call and see if your flush comes.

If you were the BB you may consider calling for more sutomers, but with the BB in the middle this is a mandatory raise on the flop.

I probably wouldn't raise the flop, but maybe I should.

However, I would certainly raise the turn. I figure at that point that I am going to call down the "slightly loose, slightly aggressive" villain who is going to bet the river if I call on the turn. I might as well raise on the turn in case I get my heart or a Q or T so I can bet the river for value.

Of course, you don't want to get three-bet on the turn, but that's unlikely to happen if the villain just has an ace. If it does happen though, you can feel better about folding the river if you don't improve.

Huh? Why are you not raising the flop or at least the turn here (to me, a total no-brainer).

In a bigger game, almost definitely. In a 1-2 game which is likely to be passive, I may limp, hoping my limp encourages others to do the same so I can get a multiway pot. I don't think raising it is wrong here however. I just think it's the least interesting point of discussion and depends on game type.

agreed. just curious which way you leaned. but i suppose you really covered it in your first post by your omission of it in discussion. making my question kinda silly. i need to get to work and off these boards.
