Opponent is too loose and seems too passive. earlier he limped UTG with q9off, checkcalled a 952 twotone flop, checked the turn and checked the river when he hit his Q.
Stats are 42/9/0.75 after few hands. He raises to $15 UTG, I call in CO with 9Ts, BB calls. Flop is JQ4, rainbow. He bets 26 into the $47 pot. I think about raising but just call. BB folds. Turn is a blank. He checks. Bet now, or hope to bluff when I inevitably miss the river? |

Passive villian seems likely to call you down. Bluff later, as in, next week or next month. Allowing yourself one bluff per month is a good guide to follow.

Still, I don't think he would call with A high or a pair of fives, which are pretty likely hands. I certainly think a half pot stab somewhere in this hand is +EV.

[/ QUOTE ] You say he's loose and passive. What's his preflop raising standards like? Loose to me means alot of limping preflop. When a loose passive guy raises PF UTG, my radar goes up. When he bets the flop, I don't mind giving him credit until shown otherwise. If he's passive postflop, he may be sitting there with AA right now and go into c/c mode thinking you surely have QJ. LAP's see monsters under the bed everywhere, IMO. |

Ouch, sorry... he has 310 at the start of the hand, I cover. Too used to hand converter I guess. BB has 400.

Check behind. He'll call you with his entire raising range on the turn probably. And you've seen him slowplay before, so why fire?
Not sure about bluffing the river either. |

OK, simple hand, I know. Just thought I'd get some quick agreement.
Everyone said to check behind. I agree. I checked. Everyone said to not bet the river. I disagree. I bet $50, half pot. I am laying 3:1 here, I think it will work more than 1:3. He probably can't read hands, and will likely call with second pair or better. I think he has that less than 1:3. He won't bluff raise me. BTW he had 9% PFR so far, which isn't exactly very aggro, but not that rockish either. He folded. |
