David Slansky Isn\'t A Good Poker Writer
Slansky in that big thread just made some comment or something about how he's a great writer, something like you can't be a great writer unless you're a great player. Well, I don't think you're a great writer. As far as I can tell most of your writing consists of stuff like this
BLUFFING THE RIVER - when deciding to bluff the river there are many things to take into account: 1) How weak do you think your opponent is? 2) How often do you think he will fold? 3) What is the pot size? "If your raise divided by 20 multipled by number 2 is the same or bigger than 3 than you should raise. For more on this topic please refer to my other books." You always just state the obvious, not very helpful, many other much better poker teachers/writers out there (see posters on NL and LHE forums). |

I am serious btw in my point here. It is not hard to name better writers. Negreanu, supersystem, Phillips, most posters on this site, Diablo, Clarkmeister, FLynn, Ml4l, turnipmonster, ike, mason, practically everyone.

If you believe the people you name are great poker authors, then, one would generally assume you'd respect their opinions on who are great poker authors. |

Re: David Slansky Isn\'t That Good A Poker Writer
What does that even mean, "a great poker theorist"?? What theories has he come up with? He just states facts and the obvious simple math behind holdem. "Say you are thinking of calling on the turn with a hand and maybe you don't quite have the odds to call to draw but oh wait a second! Also factor in the chance (even if it's small it still matters a lot because it could win you the entire big pot!!) that he will check on the river and your hand will turn out to be good without hitting." What kind of a theory is that?

What else do you want? As El Diablo has said, it's just poker.

Re: David Slansky Isn\'t That Good A Poker Writer
He wrote "Theory of Poker" and "Sklansky on Poker Theory" on different games, Stud, holdem, razz. I sense that you're joking right? Hard to read the tone in your post.

Re: David Slansky Isn\'t That Good A Poker Writer
bruiser,
skanskly wrote many of these ideas a long time. what is common sense to us as poker players today was not back then. he also introduced concepts such as the "semibluff" and a solid starting hand chart. |
