Buy ins. .50/1.00
What should I be buying in with. I play .50/1.00. I am pretty new to online poker. I have played live for a few years and always bought in with 25xbig bet. Should this be adjusted for online. I figure I'm dealt about 30% more hands per hour. Should I be buying in with 50 big bets?
What do you guys do? |

Re: Buy ins. .50/1.00
typically just the default on PP (25bb)... just easier that way... doesn't much matter as long as you make sure you rebuy if you ever dip below 12 BB...

Re: Buy ins. .50/1.00
It depends on who is at the table with me. At more aggressive games, I buy in for 50BB when I'm multitabling so I don't have to think about reloading at all. 25BB is usually fine though.
Occasionally I'll buyin for 1000BB, but most would argue that's a bit over the top. Rob |

i buy in 15, then if i dip down to ~5, i add on or leave [/ QUOTE ] Don't. There's no reason to have fewer than 12 BB in your stack at the beginning of any given hand. Period. You're here because you want to learn. That's another way of saying that you're trying to recognize the difference between +EV and -EV plays. Improving the way you manage your stack is one of the easiest +EV moves you'll ever make. If it's some sort of stop-loss thing, quit when you drop from 25 to 15 BB... or just get over it. It's all one long session. Stop when you don't feel like playing any more, or you have something better to do, or you don't think you're capable of bringing your A game. It's easy enough to give away money at the best of times. Why do anything to make things harder on yourself? |

i guess i do it to remind me to look around the table and see if i still want to stay there... but youre right it probably is better i just buy in bigger and not have the hassle

Why you shouldn't do this:
[ QUOTE ] i buy in 15, then if i dip down to ~5, i add on or leave [/ QUOTE ] Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is Button with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 raises, CO calls $2 (All-In), Hero folds, SB folds, BB folds. Flop: (5.50 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Turn: (2.75 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) River: (2.75 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: 2.75 BB Results: MP3 has Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (two pair, queens and tens). CO has Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (straight flush, ace high). Outcome: CO wins 2.75 BB. |

Re: Buy ins. .50/1.00
the main problem is buying in for to little, 25BB buy in is standard, some like 30BB, [censored] some people like 50BB. Buy whatever you want, just don't buy in for less than 25BB.
