Beating the rake
3$ rake in 2/4 and 3/6 games seems to be very common across the country. I don't think these games are beatable, at least not for much. Very strange how the same people who don't trust online poker with its lower rakes trust the B&M casinos that have been fleecing them for years.

I think $4 is more common. I don't think these games are beatable, at least not for much. It depends what you mean by much. If you are speaking in terms of dollar amounts, then yes you are right -- no one's going to make a living from these games. If you are speaking in terms of bets, then you are wrong. These games can easily be beaten for 1-2 BB's/hr. Very strange how the same people who don't trust online poker with its lower rakes trust the B&M casinos that have been fleecing them for years. What people don't trust with online poker is the legitimacy of the deal. It has nothing to do with the rake. -- Homer

Sorry, I can't agree with you there. At 4$/pot you are getting raked over 400% more than an online game, where 2 BB/hr is admirable. "What people don't trust with online poker is the legitimacy of the deal. It has nothing to do with the rake." My point is the casino is "rigged" in a different way.

Casinos generally rake at a clip of 10%, compared to 5% online, so I'd comfortably say you are being charged about double at a B&M compared to the internet, maybe slightly less, depending on the complexion of the game. Beyond that, the quality of play at a B&M $3/$6 is considerably worse than the quality of play at the same limit online.

Tell ya what. Take a LL player who wins at a clip of .025-.03 bb/hand and have them play one (1) table of online $3/$6 for 100 hours and then have them play 100 hours of B&M. I guarantee you they'll have more money from B&M play.

I don't think you are right. In games as juicy as Party 3/6 I'm pretty sure one can make a decent living playing them. I've recorded over 300 hours of 3/6 play at party before i moved up to 5/10 and over that time my average has been around 2.6 big bets an hour per table. Playing 3 tables simultaneously made it around 50$/hour for me. These numbers seem insane to me also, but that's what my database is telling me. While 300 hours is not a very big representation, I would still expect that at least 40$ an hour playing 3 3/6 tables is very possible.
