Default Bankroll Building

For you 5/10 and higher NL players playing with a bankroll of at least 25 buy-ins, how did you build your bankroll?

If you could post the amount of time it took you to work up from low stakes NL to 5/10 or above, that would also be helpful.

End of Oct 04 - Started $25NL w/ $200.

End of Dec 04 - Left $100NL and moved to 2/4 on Prima. I forget how much I had, somewhere around 25 buyins.

Mid Jan 05 - after playing the 2/4 for a couple of weeks i try the 5/10. I think I have about $15k. Make about $11k in a day. Lose it. Feel sick.

Late Jan/Feb - move back down to 2/4 and dabble in 5/10 initermittently, making a bit but not really going anywhere.

March - Party opens $1k. Had easy access to $3k and bunged it in. Lots of donks in the early days and I hit the ground running. Thankfully I haven't really looked back since.

try search.

I know I'm not too smart, but does anyone else find the search function on this site 100% useless? Most recently, I searched for the phrase "jump shark" and found several pages of posts, none of which yet have contained those words.

Oh and another thing ... sometimes people want to actually participate in a post rather than reading a bunch of opinions from 6 months ago.

So ... please ... for the children ... stop wasting your time and everyone elses by replying to posts with "try search". It makes the baby Jesus cry.

100% agree and altho the search function is the worst i have encountered on any site, it also may be the nature of the beast insomuchas the terms that you logically would think might be in a type of post you are looking for simply aren't there bcz there is so many different ways to describe even a simple poker concept.

I think there are a few 'search experts' that have figured it out, and they have become the 'search cops'

Rough estimates of time...

Played 80% 2-4 w/ dabbling in 20% 5-10 and some 3-6 for about 6 months from July 04 - Dec 04.

Started playing 80% 5-10 20% lower in Jan 05. Started w/ 19 buy-ins in January. Made good money then took a big hit right before party 1k opened. Then party 1k opened and made a lot there.

For the past 2-3 months, been playing 80% 5-10 and 20% 10-20. Have about 23 buy-ins for 10-20 right now in bankroll.

In 04, I played about 15-20 hours / week, in 05, I've played about 5-10 hours / week - this doesn't include 2+2, reading, or analysis time...

I was playing 2/4 with 30k, hit a good rush one day for 3k+ then just skipped 3/6 because I remembered seeing AKEDbet's post on "skiping 3/6". struggled for about a week, breaking even to plus minus 3 buyins then never looked back since

What is it about the 3/6 ? Im thinking of moving up from 2/4. For those who have made the jump, is it good to just skip it ? what is the state of this limit on party, we dont hear a lot from this game.
