Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
Article
Am I the only one to find that article hallucinating, with the guy calling a KJ for a raise, callind the hand a good one when he hits a jack? Then betting/calling the raise on the river after having, correctly, read the opponent as strong? Honestly tht's how i use to go broke when i started playing NL tournaments, looks like a "Don't try this at home stuff" to me!! |

Re: Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
First of all, how can an article hallucinate? Is it on drugs? Secondly, he didn't hit a J with KJs, he hit a K with it. That's a significant difference. Thirdly, he didn't necessarily read the opponent as strong on the river -- he states that it could have been a bluff, and he was getting 4-1 on his call, and he had the chips to do it. So in summary: what the hell are you talking about?

Re: Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
Sorry for J mistake, he indeed hit the K, not the jack.
Still a J kicker vs a strong player is going to be a world of hurt, most of the time... Also, if he read the guy on the flop as strong, and he gets "value-raised" on the river, it might ring a bell no? The article sounds like "I dropped sh1tloads of chips with KJsuited in a raised pot, but played well..." Heellloooo???? |

Re: Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
every time i read his hand analysis articles on Cardplayer, he always seems to either "have a good read" or "thought i played the hand well" comment in them.

Re: Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
i think kellers play was fine. i am assuming you dont like the river call of the c/r? well he was getting 4:1.. the rest of the hand was pretty standard.

Re: Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
maybe it was OKAY, but it wasn't good. good would be checking behind on the river, folding to his checkraise (which actually i think would be pretty standard), or folding preflop (which i think is standard too really).

Re: Last Keller Card Player Article ?!?
I think his play was pretty bad. I'd have just checked behind on the river for sure.

[ QUOTE ]
I think his play was pretty bad. I'd have just checked behind on the river for sure. [/ QUOTE ] the river c/r after the turn goes check check isnt the most expected play. if i thought fishman was capable of that, sure id check behind also. not saying betting is incorrect, but it cant be that bad vs fishmans range of hands. preflop? whatever. he is smart enough to be able to figure out if calling kjs vs that raise is profitable, or at least close. we cant tell if it was a fine play or not just sitting here and looking at the bet amounts and the cards. the river call? fishman could legitametly be bluffing or doing something stupid here. getting 4:1, there has to just be a chance, and there appears to be one. |

It was great when Layne made fun of Keller at the plaza, he said something like "alot of drama over there" or something. Layne Flack > Thomas Keller.
