Re: NL400 - misplayed trips
I think that if you raise the flop and are called/reraised you can feel pretty good with a fold on the turn.

Fold preflop. [/ QUOTE ] with your kicker, the only way you're getting action on this flop is if you're behind. this demonstrates why folding preflop is the best move. you got about as good a flop as you could hope for with that hand and you're afraid to play it fast. |

[/ QUOTE ]this is not a "as good a flop as he can hope for"... A72, 277 are way better. BTW, (OP) why do you think this hand is misplayed?? folding to the turn raise might be alright, but he raised so teeny and you have outs against all hands and big implied odds if he has aces full... even better, after you call the riv will often go checkcheck, YHIG. |

Re: NL400 - misplayed trips
I think I misplayed it because I need to fold at turn to raise or raise flop.Yes- this isn't the flop I'm looking for because if I get any action I'm beat.Much better is A72 where I can trap anyone with big Ace.NL 400 at party is still level where people fall in love to there AQ or AK at A high flop- and you can make a lot of mone if could hit two pair.Thank you for all comments. May be anyone can add something else?

Re: NL400 - misplayed trips
In spots like this I like to do one of 2 things:
1. Take a very aggressive line, planning to fold if someone plays back at you. 2. Take a very passive line, hoping to pick of bluffs and/or get to a cheap showdown while underrepresenting your hand. The problem with something between these two extremes is that when you get played back at you are not sure whether or not he has the goods, since you have not clearly represented a big hand. So, I might consider the following lines: 1. Checkraise the flop. If I get called, maybe I am done with it, maybe I fire again on the turn. 2. Check/call flop, check the turn. The idea is to check/call all the way down, but if on either the turn or river I make the read that he has me outkicked, I will fold. Your line is an interesting idea, but I only like it if you feel the flop check/call, turn lead is a strong enough line that you can fold to a turn raise. You did not, so as such I don't like it. -muz |

Re: NL400 - misplayed trips
You played it fine. You can't fold to a 30$ raise on the turn. He's going to check the river some of the time. As for folding pre-flop, you're the small blind. See the flop for 2 bucks and play post-flop poker.

[/ QUOTE ] I understand that he is going to check river some time, but almost always he will have bigger Ace - I dont add anything to my Ev with it.May be in such case I need to bet more- something like 30-35 at turn and fold to reraise or make it 25 at flop and stop if called or reraised. |
