Who paved the way for massive gov\'t spending...?
I was wondering who you guys think paved the way for massive gov't spending. I'm talking about the entire history of the U.S. I have my opinion but will wait to see what eveyone else says because I dont want this to be a thread just on my opinion.

Was hoping for moe debate, but yea FDR would be my choice for obvious reasons. [/ QUOTE ] Surely there was some spending involved in the New Deal, but it was really more about putting people back to work. |

[ QUOTE ]
Was hoping for moe debate, but yea FDR would be my choice for obvious reasons. [/ QUOTE ] FDR probably spent the most to accomplish the least. Lincoln was the first to really put "big government spending" into action. FDR just took it to the next level. So if you're looking for the innovator, Lincoln is your guy. If you're looking for the "best of breed" then FDR is your man. |
