Need an opinion on a play...
[I'm big blind in this hand]
[Game format is: everyone starts with 50 chips of equal value] The player in first position raises five with pocket jacks, blinds at 2-4, to 9. Everyone around the table folds to me. Now, I'm sitting with 2-7 offsuit but for some strange reason I always play, so, I call the raise. Flop comes down 2-4-7. He has top pair, but I have 2-pair. I check, he bets 3, and I raised all-in because I was short-stacked at 19. Now, mind you, he hits a set on the river to knock me out, but, did I make the right move going all-in on top of his bet post-flop, seeing as I didn't know he had pocket jacks? |

Re: Need an opinion on a play...
You made the right move going all in because a preflop raise would indicate high cards or an overpair (not top pair as you said), and 2 pair is ussually good here.
Although all logic and reasonable play says fold preflop, the poker gods willed him to hit his set for playing such a trash hand. |

Re: Need an opinion on a play...
72 always cracks aces but will lose to 23. May the Hammer gods be with you forever.
And to answer your questions; NO you made the wrong move, when 72 is in your possesion preflop you must raise all in, when the game is limit you dark raise all in. |
