If I'm the preflop raiser, which seems to be most of the time I see a flop, my default play is to bet or raise unless I have a specific reason not to. I think I need to get better at finding those reasons.
Here are four hands out of my last 100. If you bet or raise, what do you do if you get raised or reraised? What are you looking for to tell you not to bet/raise? [/ QUOTE ] Scary boards: two or three cards higher than mine, monotone flop, highly coordinated flop like JT8, obvious stuff like that. I also look for passive opponents playing aggressively. And of course, if the pot is three or more handed I'll back off if I have nothing and there is some action. |

I definitely would not raise with K8s UTG, way too easially dominated

You need reads to play all these hands properly.
Hand 1: I might peel, or fold. Raising is only against ultra lag opponents who will bet with anything if they think you don't have a pair. Hand 2: Position sucks, but flop usually misses villain. Bet. Hand 3: This is why I like 3-betting here against a normal SB (ie sb raises enough), takes control of the hand and makes it easier to play. But I fold the flop in your hand. Hand 4: Really obvious continuation bet (without a read). Betting is correct against most opponents even with a read. |

I'm starting to rethink how automatic this is. This type of board is likely to have hit my opponent. Do you fold if check-raised? I guess you have to, since you've only got one overcard and a backdoor straight draw. What if he calls and donkbets a blank turn? |

I'd bet 2 and 4 just because you are heads up, have initiative, and could very well win right here. 1 and 3 are easy folds for me, especially #3 with the preflop raiser betting again.

1. fold preflop, fold flop (I raise KTs+)
2. Bet flop. 3. Fold or 3bet preflop (I lean toward fold), fold flop. 4. Bet flop. |
