Live 4/8. bdkclash open-raises UTG+1. Folded to me in the BB with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I 3-bet, he calls, we see the flop heads-up for 6.5 SBs.
Flop is K-Q-4. I bet, he raises, I fold. Whaddaya think? |

I'm not sure I like your 3-bet preflop, especially since you are out of position. What range of hands do you put bdkclash on?

I think the 3bet was bad if the flop fold was bad.
Really dont know how aggro he is, but the preflop 3bet must slow him down postflop else I dont see much value in it. |

how is 3-betting better than playing it normally?

Possibly folding overcards before the river. Possibly folding a pair if an Ace or King flops. Knowing he wants to get to showdown if he has good showdown value and that he won't get tricky with me...yet.

I like the three bet against a known good player heads-up. UTG could have premium draw hands such as AK or even ATs (if he is feeling daring). It tells you a lot about his holdings. The fact that he did not cap pre-flop speaks loudly.
I like your flop fold. Brad is not stupid. He is not about to raise here unless he connects after your pre-flop 3-bet, and flop aggression. Well played. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

AK isn't a drawing hand

a made hand is just a drawing hand with more outs.

if he plays straightforward, then it's fine, but if he decides to play it tricky, it's hard to play. also, if he has AK he should be capping there for leverage. I think JJ if an A flops is the only hand you'll be able to push him off
