...Clonie Gowen is another late arrivial... [/ QUOTE ] Can she really afford to be late? It's not like she's very good to begin with. And what's the deal with getting there late? What's it prove? That you're either too cool or too good to get there on time? Not like this tournament is a big deal or anything. |

Seems the "pros" went to the Phil Hellmuth school of showing up late. [/ QUOTE ] Yup, Phil's a role model for us all. who cares if you show up late? you can't win the tournament in the first level. i'd rather have T10,000 than T9,500, but for some people it's not that big of a deal.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, but you can get yourself in better chip position, figure out your opponents, have extra time versus the morons who may be gone by the time you get there, actually HAVE the full aount of chips you paid for, and get a feel for how the table is playing in general. There isn't a single reason for a top player to do this that is not -EV, period. But if sleep/relaxation/jitters/recognition means that much to them, fine by me. I'll be the one taking their blinds and running the table while they're gone. |

I'm not positive cause I only saw it like once and I was playing .50/1 on Empire but I'm pretty sure when Raymer flopped the st8 to eliminate Williams it was still the 1st level. I could be wrong though, in which case this would be interesting. |
