Please don\'t pair the river
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
The preflop call was a mistake. I acted a bit too fast, doing other things and thought it was a single raise. Now, as for reads. He 3-bets K8s in the BB when the SB open-raises. Can 3-bet A9s in the SB when the button isolates a loose CO etc. He can be quite aggressive postflop HU, such as bet/3-bet 77 on 78JA9 after the PFR called his flop check-raise and turn bet. Stats was something like 35/10/2.6 MP is very loose pre, and loose post. Non-aggressive but not passive either. The one that if he 3-bets somewhere postflop you know that it's more than TP. Stats was something like 46/7/0.7 Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls, MP calls, 1 fold, Button calls, Hero completes, BB raises, UTG calls, MP 3-bets, Button calls, Hero calls, BB caps, UTG folds, MP calls, Button calls, Hero calls. Flop: (18 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets, BB raises, MP calls, Button calls $8 (All-In), Hero 3-bets, BB caps, MP calls, Hero calls. Re: Please don\'t pair the river
PF call is not a mistake, IMO. It's five way and the pot is huge already. I would cr the flop. You really want to trap the field here. On the river, I can't see myself not putting in 4 bets when given the chance. You could make the case that if MP wakes up you should go for the overcall, but I probably wouldn't. If you were thinking CR, I wouldn’t. He’s aggressive so he’ll raise a decent bit here.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, the thing is, I was fairly certain that the BB would raise, and I also knew that MP was very, very likely to cold-call with whatever he was holding, so I was going for a bet/3-bet line instead of running the risk of the BB shutting down due to it being multiway. And if the BB caps he will bet the turn for sure, so that will let me find out if I can get a check-raise in on the turn as well. Sure, if I check-raise the flop, he 3-bets, I cap and lead turn, I may be able to get a 3-bet in on the turn. Hmm... |

[/ QUOTE ] After looking at the action again I don't think it makes a ton of difference. BT is almost out of money so it will likely find its way into this huge pot, and as you said MP is loose. I think the key is the likelihood of losing MP to a raise. As it appears to be very little, bet/3-bet is at least neutral EV vs. CR. |

I bet, BB raises, MP cold-calls, I 3-bet, BB caps, MP calls.
BB has Kc8c for the rivered flush. MP has AsAh. Was I wrong to 3-bet in this spot? |

Re: Please don\'t pair the river
I don't see pre-flop being too bad. Pot is big and multiway and you have a hand that plays pretty well in these types of situations. You played flop and Turn perfectly . You need to bet the river. If MP raises you, I would probably just call. If BB raises you, you need to 3-bet, call a cap.
