River play?
Party 2/4. Villian is a relative unknown. What's your plan on this river?
Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $2. UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO (poster) checks, Button raises, SB calls, Hero calls, CO folds. Flop: (7 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB folds, Hero calls. Turn: (5.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls. River: (7.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero ? |

Re: River play?
Jeez, my reading skills are bad. I thought villian bet and you were asking what your play was. Yah, bet.
I think I'm calling the raise though. I was re-reading SSH last night and a quote stuck in my mind. It was something like: rather than assume players at your table are tight, it's better to assume they're loose (since most SS players are) until you're proven wrong. |

Re: River play?
I would three bet the flop and lead the turn.
Given the way you played it, I bet the river, thinking about folding to a raise. I don't think many Party 2/4 players are raising the river with hands that beat you. |

Re: River play?
There are a lot of hands the button could have raised PF and again raised the flop. Of those AA, KK, QQ, and JJ beat you. But there are a lot more that don't (AK,AQ, AJ, KQ, KJs, TT, 99, etc). WIth no read, I'd raise and call a re-raise.

Re: River play?
I would usually checkraise the flop. When you bet and he raises, you really haven't learned anything. See how he reacts to a checkraise.
Bet the river, 2 reasons. 1) You don't want him to check behind with a pocket pair like 9's. 2) You want to keep it to 1 bet or 2. Lost Wages |
