Make it 200 or 300 on the flop, *then* think about folding to the CR. Since you underbet it, either push or fold.

I can see how betting 100 is too low, but isn't 300 overboard? There's no straight or flush draws, so there's nothing that can call which I still beat, except a strong queen.
Now suppose I had bet 200, UTG calls, and UTG+1 raised to 400. What would be my line then? UTG check raised despite a caller to my bet. Presuming no manics at the table, am I ahead often enough to justify a call to see the turn? UTG cold calls the turn, and UTG pushes all in. Is it an easy fold here, barring any reads, or do I need to think a bit? |

How about raising more preflop?
Edited to add: What buy-in is this? Did you run into trips? |

Standard raise with limpers, or without limpers? The two situations are very different.

You want to play AA vs. one opponent. Assuming this is a lower buy-in ($10-$20), raise to $120-$150 pre-flop and fire away after almost any flop.

Ditto. I'm seeing this "advice" far too much lately, considering I belive it to be false.

AA loses a lot of equity in multiway pots, especially when there are draws on the flop.
Quoting bigredlemon: [ QUOTE ] I can see how betting 100 is too low, but isn't 300 overboard? There's no straight or flush draws, so there's nothing that can call which I still beat, except a strong queen. [/ QUOTE ] What do you mean there are no straight draws? 98Q flop...possiblity for the JT flopped straight and 67 draw. My guess is he had 67, only because I always get beat by 67 when I have AA. Happened 4 times last month (always early in tourney after 4-5xbb raise). I think your preflop raise is okay, but I would bet at least 250 on the flop. In the case that you did only bet 100, by all means reraise the minbet. It screams of someone trying to resteal with a draw or underpair. I don't know if this is the right play, but I'd reraise all-in, just so I won't have to make any decisions on the turn. I can rarely get away from rockets, so I might as well push while I'm probably ahead. |
