Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
LIVE BADs You have a higher rake rounds go by slower because of a live dealer. Travel time, wait time. LIVE GOOD 15-30 min rounds Read opponent's tells smaller field to get through Get to hold some REAL chips ONLINE BAD Can't read players. hundreds of players to weed through. Too easy to just "click" an action Not as much time on the clock for thinking. Rounds are fast 9-15 mins. Power/DSL/Modem/PC can go out at any second. ONLINE GOOD PC deals fast. No travel expense No travel time No time wasted to start tournament Get to be a Champion in your underwear Quiet. small start blinds in relation to stack. As for opponents I think live has weaker opponents. More weak tight, loose players calling with dominated hands. They play scared because you have to put in $50-$200 for a good live tournament where online $33 is nothing. The poor players are easy to read like a big fat highway sign. I prefer live personally and have done better live. Thoughts and reasons why one is better than the other? |

Re: Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
Wow. You live in Florida and prefer live tournaments?
I hate the live structures that are "constricted" due to the crazy Florida laws regarding poker. I almost refuse to play live here unless it's just to get out with friends and have some fun. I agree the players are usually weak tight, but the structures and laws surrounding poker play in this state are so ridiculous that I greatly prefer online play. |

Re: Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
I can't multi table any tournaments.
I feel blind when I can't see my opponents and their little mannerisms. I can't talk to them into revealing their hands. |

[/ QUOTE ] Doesn't mean it doesn't belong on the list. By that logic nothing should be on there because there isn't a single thing on there that holds universally for all players. |

Re: Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
Really?
The ones I play are generally $150 buy in with the house taking 20% 30 min rounds with 4000 chips. Is there better? Please inform, please do. BTW I am moving to Baltimore after my house sells here in Fort Lauderdale. AC is 3 hours away woohoo! Wife got a kickin' job that pays a lot. |

I haven't found anything remotely close and I thought I had tried just about every MTT locally. I'm in Davie and would love to find a structure like this - it would certainly change my feelings about live tournament structures here. |

Re: Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
True that.
I just played my first live multi here about 4 weeks ago. For those that don't know, Florida's SnGs are $45 buy-in. But it's not what you think. It is $32+13. Yes that's right! I didn't stutter, and it's not a typo. With a rake like that, people still do SnGs. Some people do 4 or more a day!. Payout is $200 and $120, BTW. |

Re: Live or online tournaments which is more profitable?
Live Bad additions.
Often have great extra expense w/hotel and meals out. There are not many that you are physically able to enter/ On Line Good additions. Huge number of tourneys available make ROI easier to realize. Comfort of Home play makes stress of playing easier to handle. Bathroom breaks have a much shorter line. Your wife can sub if you need to play catch outside with your son. |
