Re: 215 - AQ
Hmm.. i play $22's and I suck at analyzing hands, but I'm trying to improve.
You say he's a TAG, so he probably has a small range here. What do you put him on? Have you shown much aggression earlier in this game? I think he would reraise with QQ-AA, and maybe call with lower pocket pairs. 88/99-JJ? (just guessing). Other than that he might call with AK, AQs and if he's tight that's probably it. Maybe KQs and AJs too, but that wouldn't be very tight. If he had AK or 99, you are screwed (and maybe KQs..), if he has any other hand you can probably take the pot right there. I think I would bet here, and fold to a raise. So, what did you do? And why did you raise to 200 and not 150/175? Do you want the blinds? Now the pot is all big on the flop. Edit: If he just calls a bet on the flop, he could be slowplaying a set, and then I would be very careful too. |

[/ QUOTE ] i dont really know what hes cold-calling with, his stats are 13/13/2, but its only over like 20 hands or so, so it really dosent mean much, i have been playing very tight [ QUOTE ] So, what did you do? [/ QUOTE ] ill wait for some more replies before i post the results, as far as the 200 raise, i usually switch it up between 150 and 200, i wouldnt really mind taking the blinds uncontested, but you do make a good point that now i have to deal with a big pot on the flop when i miss and it also puts me in a shitty situation if someone were to push preflop, maybe i should start raising less on the 25/50 round? |

Re: 215 - AQ
Your lucky this is a flop you can bet small, 200 or so. Checking is fine too.
If you would've made it 150 preflop the situation would be a lot better, by raising 200 your forcing yourself in an awkward situation. |

[/ QUOTE ] yeah, me too. additionally, against a tight player, who you haven't seen anything stupid out of, what on earth do you think he's calling 1/4 of your stack, and like 1/4-1/5 of his stack off, even in position, with? i think it's rare that you should bet on a flop that looks like kxx, as the guy who calls here preflop with TT or something like that isn't folding on the kblankblank board. i think that you're going to see a lot of 99-AA and AK, with the occasional AQ (but really not frequent) out of your opponent. i actually want to throw out the 99-TT from my range, and maybe JJ, as i think you're probably going to be in a lot worse shape most of the time here against even the standard 215s player. conversely, you can pick on people who play in the fashion you played this hand, if you know how they play. which leads to the point that raising smaller preflop leads you to not be pickonable as much. c |

Re: 215 - AQ
yeah i like raising 125-200 in the 25-50 level, with more emphasis on 125-150 conserving those extra chips is important 50-75 chips can be 100-150 chips the next hand...it adds up

I think villian is holding AQ, maybe AJ or AK, but probably a pocket pair below JJ. With this kind of flop, with our kind of stack, I'd probably push. There's a 1 in 8 chance that he's caught his set, if he's tight he probably won't call if he hasn't. |
