A tricky bb hand early on
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx
Hero (t1490) UTG (t2810) UTG+1 (t1570) MP1 (t1400) MP2 (t780) CO (t1430) Button (t1390) SB (t2630) Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls t20, 4 folds, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (t60) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets t20, Hero raises to t60, UTG+1 calls t60, SB calls t40. Turn: (t240) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets t100, Hero folds, UTG+1 folds. Final Pot: t340 The turn seemed meaningless, but I didnt like the guy calling behind me, I had absolutely no reads other than players are awful on stars and that maybe I shouldnt have raised the flop. Should I have smooth called, hoping for 2 pair or better? |

Re: A tricky bb hand early on
You don't have odds to call to improve. With 5 outs you are about 8 to 1 against making two pair or trips getting 3.4 to 1 odds with another player left to act. If you think you have the best hand, raise. If you think you're behind, fold. I think the fold is fine especially given the cold caller.

Re: A tricky bb hand early on
I may just call after the flop. While it wont price out draws, it keeps the pot managable, where you can continue to play cheaply in position. Id prob. raise 70%, call 30% of the time. Its difficult with "no reads." If the board turned a scare card like the J or something, i may raise after him, if he wasnt likely drawing.
