Good 7 card stud beginners books?
No matches found under the search function, so I must be doing something wrong because I know there's been some discussion.
I've got 7CSFAP on my wish list. Wondering if there's a better book for beginners. I've played 7 card stud hi/low for over 15 years with my mother's family, but family poker ain't serious poker in this case. It's always loose and rarely aggressive. |

Re: Good 7 card stud beginners books?
I have just started dabbling in stud and read "Winning 7-Card Stud: Transforming Home Poker Chumps into Casino Killers" by Ashley Adams. It was reasonable enough. It advocated playing a tight, safe style and recommend starting hands, etc. I chose this over other beginner stud books because King Yao recommended it. Like you, I also have 7CSFAP on my list to buy very soon. 'Stosh

Re: Good 7 card stud beginners books?
the applicable chapters in Super System Vol. 1 (High) and Vol. 2 (High/Low) are fine if you already have those books.
Roy West does the job but it's overpriced IMO and somewhat of a dull read. solid fundamentals though, and find it used if you can cause it's been in print for a long time. market price is probably $10 vs. list price of $20 (used to be $25). one book which I think is underrated is "Get The Edge At Casino Poker" by Fred Renzey, which covers HE, both 7CS high and split, and omaha split all in one, and it's only $14.95. he wrote the excellent "Blackjack Bluebook II" and his poker teachings are equally efficient. |

Re: Good 7 card stud beginners books?
Start with either Super System 1 with Chip Reese's section, or Theory of Poker (I'd suggest TOP but it's your call), then read 7CSFAP.

Re: Good 7 card stud beginners books?
Have anyone read "How to Beat Low Limit 7 Card Stud Poker" and "Winning 7-Card Stud: Transforming Home Game Chumps Into Casino Killers". Both seem to have good reviews on Amazon, so I'm not too sure of which one to get.
