counter \"evidence\" against \"online poker is rigged\" mentality
people seem to not trust online play because they see unbelievable suckouts, but they don't seem to realize that crazy suckouts occur during live play as well.
this isn't exactly a bad beat encouragement post, but i'd like to hear about some extreme longshots winning a hand. what's the craziest thing you've ever seen live? maybe then people will realize that this sort of thing is just part of poker and they can stop saying online poker is rigged. |

Re: counter \"evidence\" against \"online poker is rigged\" mentality
In early August at the Taj, there was a royal flush in clubs dealt on the board a couple of tables away from mine. The odds against the royal hitting the board at that particular table on that particular hand in that particular suit were astronomical, so obviously that particular dealer was cold-decking to build up more action and increase the rake.

thanks for the sarcasm although i hope it's not directed towards me since i DON'T think online poker is rigged.
but wow, a royal flush?? what are the odds? was the dealer a male or female, how old? that makes the odds even greater! |

You could try posting this in the correct forum.
This is for live poker. Now where oh where did that put that internet gambling forum? |

[ QUOTE ] Now where oh where did that put that internet gambling forum? [/ QUOTE ] maybe you misunderstood my post. this is about things you've seen at live poker, NOT internet poker. so before you go into smartaleck mode, think about it. |

what's the craziest thing you've ever seen live? [/ QUOTE ] I was playing in a 4-8 game at Mandalay Bay when a guy who had played a suited 5-high UTG flopped a steel wheel with 5 or 6 opponents, and didn't get enough action to collect the high hand jackpot. What are the odds of that happening? |

[/ QUOTE ] i think you're missing the purpose of the post. (shallow as it may seem ) it's not to complain about losing a pot to a bad beat, how much money was at stake and oh my god the opponents suck so bad, etc. it's to show that this is part of poker, online and live, and maybe we can discuss why people distrust online especially. |

Re: counter \"evidence\" against \"online poker is rigged\" mentality
Day one of the WSOP main event. About 10 hours into the day and at my table the 2 seat raises from the CO. Button Folds, I fold in the SB. BB raises, CO reraises, BB thinks for a long time and calls. Flop comes A73 rainbow. BB checks, CO bets about half the pot. BB raises all in. CO instacalls and shows pocket Aces. BB turns over KJ off. Turn Q River T for the runner runner straight sending the guy with the set of Aces home. Both of the guys had pretty big stacks at this point, too.
Board: Ah 8c 4s equity (%) win (%) / tie (%) Hand 1: 98.3838 % [ 00.98 00.00 ] { AdAc } Hand 2: 01.6162 % [ 00.02 00.00 ] { KdJh } You can actually see the guy on a lot of the intro shots on the ESPN coverage. He is wearing a black polo and has short dark hair and they show him getting up screaming after he hits his miracle. |
