CRing the turn w/AK high (10/20)
UTG is 17/13.5/2.26/wtSD 37/w$SD 50.5 in 5500 hands.
CO is 59.32/10.67/0.98/wtSD 32.66/w$SD 57.85 in 1150 hands. Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG raises, 1 fold, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, UTG caps, CO calls, Hero calls. Flop: (13 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, UTG bets, CO calls, Hero calls. Turn: (8 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, UTG bets, CO calls, Hero raises... This isn't a standard play for me by any means. I felt that if I CRed the turn, I could scare UTG into folding something like JJ, TT or maybe even AK, which would be worthwhile in this fairly big pot. Also, I thought having the CO in the hand actually helped make my turn CR look more convincing to UTG. By the turn, I figured the CO to have some kind of draw on the turn. |

Re: CRing the turn w/AK high (10/20)
I don't play 10/20 yet, I'm currently at 5/10, but this seems like spewage to me.
You've got one guy who capped preflop and has shown nothing but strength postflop. Another guy who is calling all the way. They've both put money in already on the turn. I expect a turn c/r to fold both of them out of the pot just about never. That said, once you get to the river and have managed to fold one of them, I really think you need to lead out. CO has only got to be on a draw 1 in 13 times for a bet to be correct. EDIT - Of course, if he's on a draw, you're ahead. Will he have and fold a middle pocket pair often enough to make betting the river correct? Not sure...but maybe checking is better. -Brian |
