Re: Cowboys Out Of Position, Scary Board
i don't mind a continuation bet here as you're representing AA, AK, or KK.
i might even bet the river but it's likely a way ahead way behind. I like your line fine. |

Re: Cowboys Out Of Position, Scary Board
Read on villain: Aggressive but not crazy. He is raising PF 12.2% of the time but his VP$IP is only 26. However he is not only raising premium hands as he raised with 98s from 4 behind the button earlier. I think he's someone who tries to be tricky sometimes and he seems to be aware of position.

Re: Cowboys Out Of Position, Scary Board
Interesting hand...
I don't see him checking the flop with a set or AK if hes aggressive, and I don't see him checking behind with those hands or a flush on the river. I'm guessing he thought you were weak and was hoping he could make you fold by representing an A or a flush, in which case you played good. But that's a very strange bluff by him... You are out of position which makes a continuation bet very awkward if you get called, so I think checking the flop is fine. You can't really value bet the river, you'd have to call the push. Tough hand, I really don't see how else to play it. It seems like every line has it's drawbacks. Your hands are tied by the stack sizes and the flush on the board; value betting isn't comfortable, getting all-in isn't comfortable, and neither is folding. |

Re: Cowboys Out Of Position, Scary Board
Five bucks says villain was looking for a cheap showdown with AJ AQ probably with a spade. I lead this river for 1/2 pot every time and call most reasonable raises without a rediculous read.

I wonder why it seems obvious to some that he would hold this or something similar since I couldn't imagine anyone calling my large PF reraise and then NOT betting that flop when it was checked to them with that holding. To me, the only valid reasons to chech after me on the flop is they were on the flush draw and happy to get the free card or they had a smaller PP (something like like Jacks) and the Ace scared him just as much. When he raised me on my flop bet, I knew that smaller pockets was less likely. Really, who doesn't bet that flop holding an Ace? |

Re: Cowboys Out Of Position, Scary Board
I'd get it all in on the turn. He doesn't have a flush.
