What Bigwig has been up to since his meltdown last Sunday
I've dropped down to the $30s. I've been crushing them. Before I switched to the $50s, I had about 3000 SNG's under my belt at the 20/30 levels, and had attained an ROI of around 27-28%. After much consideration, I moved to the 50s.
My first 800 returned 25%. Very nice. My last 1200 have been 8%. Not so hot. For an average of 15%. Where are the truths? If I can maintain 28% at the $30s, I would make more than 15% at the 50s. But does this compute? Shouldn't someone, who has such a good history at the $30 level be able to make more at the $50 level? I would think so. Could it be something in my style of play that thouroughly crushes the $30s, but is a leak at the $50s? What could be the major and obvious problems? Anyway, for the time being, I'm going to concentrate on learning to 8 table the $30s. It's what I'm most comfortable with right now. Anyone have any possible answers to the above questions? |

I do not remember who but someone just said that all of the regular grinders at the 30s had moved up to the 50s and that they had become a lot tougher so that might be part of the problem

I seem to recall a bet between Irieguy and Zen about being able to make more money at the 33s than at the 55s?

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think they felt that they were making more money/hr or anything...it's just that they were making very close to the same amount of money with much smaller absolute $$ swings. Re: What Bigwig has been up to since his meltdown last Sunday
I don't have any answers to your questions but I have a question of my own.
You have lots of 20s and 30s under your belt from before. How many games of 20s and how many 30s did you play and what was your ROI at each level? I am in the 20s (8 tabling them now) and will soon move to the 30s most likely. How did you find the play in the 30s compared to the 20s and 50s? Thanks. |

My ROI for both was about 27-28%. |

[/ QUOTE ] I can't answer about the 50s as it's been a long while since I was there, but a lot of the play at the 30s is terrible, I notice maybe one or two what I'd call decent players at the table, one or two tight (which isn't necessarily the same thing), and then a mixture of donks, LAG players, calling stations etc. Even the one or two decent ones have leaks for the most part (not saying I don't too, but theirs are certainly noticeable) |

More of everything that is bad. Like, mini-raising with J8s from MP and then calling someone's significant all-in. Plays like that happen seemingly twice as often at the $30s than $50s. |

And less donks in the early levels. Isn't 15% at the 55s considered pretty good, especially for 8-tabling? |

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe the $50s are just harder, with more people with a clue around the bubble? And less donks in the early levels. [/ QUOTE ] Well, sure they're harder. But shouldn't someone who crushes the $30s like myself be able to make more per hour at the $50s? I'm saying that the ROI hit shouldn't be large enough to make playing $30s more profitable. Why I'm acheiving this must be because of (a) variance or (b) a leak that shows itself in this level jump. [ QUOTE ] Isn't 15% at the 55s considered pretty good, especially for 8-tabling? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, it's fine, although I'm 4-tabling. But if I'm making just as much at the $30s, why not stay there and learn to 8-table and improve? |
