TDL: Card ahead out of position
Okay, the hand history I posted below is a perfect example of what I've seen happen a lot lately. To sum it up, you're a card ahead on the turn out of position and brick the draw. I think this is just a straight math question, but do you auto bet here? If not, what is factoring into your decision.
The problem, as I see it, is that it's easy for someone to make a jack low or better. Also, if they're on a one card draw, they'll still be ahead a lot of the time. Is there enough fold equity to make this play worthwhile? Hand #5730089-10472 at Epsom ($1/$2 Triple Draw 2-7) Powered by UltimateBet Started at 17/May/05 01:05:30 AAAA is at seat 0 with $118.25. Re: TDL: Card ahead out of position
Whoops, I typed this up either incorrectly or in the most confusing manner possible, depending on how you look at it. So, what I really mean is this: you're a card ahead going into the second draw and brick. What do you do before the third draw when you're out of position?

In this situation, since he drew 2 I'd bet, but if he drew one, I think it's a check call situation. Everything else is good I think.

[/ QUOTE ] i think the fact that you're drawing rough (even if it is to a 7) necessitates a check before the third draw. if you had 2347x and had already discarded a couple wheel cards, you might bet here. but, you're out of position, and it's not unreasonable to think that he improved to at least a 1 card draw. i think negreanu addresses this situation specifically in ss2 by stating that you really don't give up anything by checking, and you can get some real headaches if you bet and are raised. |
