Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
Give me your thoughts on this...
"A limp re-raise from anything short of a complete manaic typically is a sign of a monster hand AA, KK or AKs." |

I could have said that.

Or, a sign that they have 3 or less BBs left and two random cards.

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
The caveat to this that I could phrase well is that if somebody has raised, and somebody else has 3-bet, a limp/cap is often in no way indicative of anything other than a desire to see a flop.

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
In the micro-micro limits where I play, the statement in not true. I have seen quiet passive players suddenly limp-re-raise. About 80% of the time it is with less that premium hands like 77, A8s, KTs and the like. Frankly I can't remeber any player limp re-raising and showing down KK or AA, the players I play with raise immediately with them or more amaingly limp, or cold-call with them.
This may only hold for the 0.02/0.04 or 0.05/0.10 games I have played. |

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
I definitely disagree. I see it basically as often with weird multi-way hands, small pairs, or just crap, as I do with AA/KK/AK. (This is mainly at Stars 0.25/0.50 through 2/4.)
I basically agree with what StellarWind posted here: [ QUOTE ] In micro games, limp-reraises usually do *not* show AA or similar premium hand. Mostly they fall in one of two categories: 1. JTs, 55, etc. in a big field: Some half-baked theory of raising with volume hands. 2. Trashy/random hands: I call these spite raises and they are very common. They are offended by your aggressiveness and determined not to be pushed around. Especially common at tables where a maniac is provoking the other players into wild play, but usually the maniac himself is not the back raiser. [/ QUOTE ] just my 2c (well, and Sw's). cheers, mn |

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
This is the information I was looking for.
The story to this is that I was against some manaic who'd capped the turn on me with K7 vs My AK. So the next time I get AK, he limp re-raises me and I put him on utter crap. An A flops and it gets capped on the flop and the river until I call down and he shows me Aces. Similar play happened with KK the last time I got limp re-raised. So I was wondering how often you saw this play from lousy players (but not people with their "raise all" button stuck). |

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
Interesting responses so far. From my experience, it has nearly always been AA, KK, or AK. There are a couple of exceptions, but for the most part, premium hands. Now a total nutjob might be a different story, but I'm assuming typical players here.
Of course, a lot of other people have significantly more time on the tables. But from what I've observed so far, your truism seems to be true. |

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
Actually Dids it amazes me how often people do it with the likes of 55, and other low/low-mid PP's. Bad players they be. But it seems to be like a club they're in or something.
I almost never see it outside of AA/KK/AK, and these weak pairs. |

Re: Micro Limit Truism to Try on For Size
A couple weeks back I went up against a A7s limp reraise cap.
I never could have put him on the flush after his cap preflop and his checks on the flop and turn. The guy flops a flush against my overpair and manages to get a total of one bet on each street, not even going for the checkraise but just betting out on the river. |
