Default Was this All in with AA too much of a gamble?

This is a live game, with one .50 blind
Hero(BB) - 12.50
UTG - 25.00
MP1 - 11.00
MP2 - 16.00
Button - 15.00

UTG folds, MP1 raises to 1.25. MP2 raises to 4.25. Hero looks and moves all in with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. MP1 Folds, MP2 calls the all in.
Fortunately, this worked out for me... MP2 had JJ and didn't set it. However, was my raise too aggressive? Was it too much of a gamble? Should I have bet less to keep it 3 handed?

If you have AA and think just one person will call an all-in bet, you absolutely want to move all-in. It was a good play.

If you were in position you could consider slowplaying but not here.

By my calculations you raised him 11.75 when he had put in 4.25. You also forced MP1 to call another 9.75 which he didn't do.

In this case I don't think it matters too much what you do. I probably have raised to about 9 bucks. This makes MP2 only have to call 4.75 and gives MP1 a much better chance to call as well and get caught in the middle. If they call this bet then they are actually calling their stack but they probably don't realise that. There is a good chance that MP2 will push if you raise this anyway. If you raise all in you are giving them a much better chance to fold than raising as I said to 9 bucks or even min raising which normally I don't like.

I can't believe you're asking this question.

I would have folded pre-flop.

I personally like jdl22's play better than the all in. I want to get them calling in there with hands that are heavy underdogs. Everyone will basically be pot committed on the flop.

Hi,

Any aware player is going to realize if you min raise your commiting over 50% of your stack and will only have a tiny tiny bet left on the turn. So they should put you on AA/KK/QQ if you min raise.

If you go all in, they may put you on a lot of crap JJ/TT AK/AQ/AJ/KQ and call.
