Default 2004 WSOP Entries

Anyone know how many players are entered so far in the WSOP next month? I've heard it will be capped at 1800 if necessary.

max is 200 tables (check the website). It is unclear if they will go beyond the normal 9 seat table, but my best guess is no, and the cap means 1800.

Nolan Dalla is media director for the shoe, straight from his mouth through my ears to you: Cap of 2000, but alternate list on standby is possible....

2 days 1000 players each day until each field is cut to 500....

3rd day merge....

Lee Jones (manager of Stars) told me that there will be no cap and some tables will be at the Golden Nugget. He told me this yesterday on the phone.

This seems contrary to what they say on their own site, where each group plays the same number of levels. What happens if the first group is at 500 by Level 2, and the second group takes until Level 5? Which level would they start at?

He's flat wrong, Matt Savage has said on RGP it's capped at 2000.

Default The real deal

Ok I work at the shoe as a wsop dealer. This is what I have been told. Day one and two will be split into 1000 each max (with additional alternates if needed). Day one will play 11 levels if the 500 left is met if not more if nessicary) Day 2 will play the exact same amount of levels as day 1 even if there is 300 left. What I have been told is that 1600 players is expected. So far the tourny has been great, as a fan of poker I absolutely love going to work and watching these great poker players go to work. I witnessed a hand in the PL HE tourny which Min winn (not actual spelling but pronunceation) bluff all in with 30 players left on a A65 board with KJs. I know I shouldnt have looked as the dealer, but as a poker fan I couldnt help myself. Opponent had JJ.

you mean they didn't turn up the hands and the JJ guy mucked and you peeked at the cards anyway??

if that's the case you shouldnt be posting hands like this on the boards.

it would be fairly easy for someone to figure out which dealer you are and i suspect the WSOP folks wouldn't be thrilled with your actions so be careful.

in fact, even if these hands were turned face-up for anyone and everyone to see i suspect you aren't supposed to be talking about them on a public-forum are you??
i honestly don't know because i've never dealt nor played in a major poker-tournament....i'm just guessing.
