Default California card club help?

I will be spending a few weeks working at Edwards AFB soon and staying in Lancaster, CA.
I will have a rental car and will have the evenings free.
Normally I play online and in midwest casinos.
I was wondering if anybody could give me some help on the card rooms around LA.
I am looking for mid-limits 10-20 to 100-200 HE.

The kind of info I am looking for.
(1) venues
(2) games spread
(3) typical opposition at certain levels
(4) Any special food comps or buy-in promos.
(5) possibility of cheating at any venue.

I understand that some of the info might be sensitive so if you want to just reply by email you can contact me at
dreamer_bj21@yahoo.com

Thanks in adavance for help given.

he left out one thing - bring plenty of cash.

I used to travel for work and I'd go to the Commerce to play from 8 pm on and the games were CRAZY. Tons of action, which can be brutal when your running bad and can have you go through a lot of chips but it is absolutely the best game I have ever been in. I played in the 40/80 game probably a dozen times, 6 or 8 hours each, and every time the game was awesome.

If you do go, stay away from a fat, 50-year oldish woman named Iris. She is easily in my top 10 of the worst people I have ever met. She is nasty towards the dealers, makes fun of the dealer's accents by mimicing them, criticizes other players, and is just repulsive to look at.

The only thing I would suggest is that you avoid the late night, short-handed games, unless this is your strength. There were a couple of times when I did really well when the tables were full but then decided to hang around and play shorthanded and gave some of it back. There are some very good shorthanded players that hang around for the late shifts.

Also, whenever you sit at a new table (as long as you weren't a transfer) you don't have to pay the first collection. Just tell the dealer you're a new player and the first collection is free.

Good luck.

A couple of things Snakehead left out, from Lancaster to the Commerce is approximately 80 miles one way, also there is a card room just outside of Lancaster called "Diamond Jim's", I haven't been there in a while, however I was told they spread a 4/8 he, with a kill, and the apparently the game is quite lively.

Having said all that, if you want to visit the mecca of poker, go to the Commerce. Snakehead's directions for getting there are accurate.
