NL Holdem play when chips are low.
I have entered a few tournaments and have done not so bad placing at least in the top 50%. I am a limit player and am trying to learn no-limit.
One problem I come against is that I don't get any good hands for a long while. I watch other people gamble with marginal hands and then by the time I get something good they have 3x or 4x my chips. Example last tournament there were 56 hands, I played 2 blinds and 3 real hands. 2 other calls I got raised on and folded. They were drawing hands. So should you gamble early on some hands since calling is so cheap? I feel you should stay tight for a while. My last hand I had KTs and reraised a person raising with marginal hands they whole time and got flushed out of the tournament on a luck turn card. I don't know limit that well but I feel I know more than most of these people playing. I see many gamble and it seems to pay for them early. I also see many gamblers lose early because of this. So what is the right course of play? I try to play big pairs and suited connectors only if late position. |
