Default \'Education of a Poker Player\' by Herbert Yardley

Picked this up on Ebay, one of the old original hardcovers. Great reading for folks who enjoy trip reports and such. The poker advice is formatted in an interesting way.

Man, this must have been powerful ammo to have in the late '50s.

I heard of it in the Gambling's Greatest Hits essay here.

The stories are great. The playing advice is weak and the advice is piecemeal. If you're a good player then you will no doubt sift out the wheat from the chaff. It will take one from beginner to intermediate but that is all.

Jacoby On Poker (1940) predates Education Of A Poker Player (1957) and is much better in terms of playing advice.

However, neither compare to what was to follow, Winning Poker Systems et al.
