Re: No Limit v. Limit Which is more Profitable
if you are an expert at both forms, no limit is much more profitable. for an intermediate player who still needs work on some parts of his game, limit is probably better, because mistakes are not as costly.

Re: No Limit v. Limit Which is more Profitable
I find people lose a lot more on the river during than they do on in No limit. 2/4 Limit, u can still lose a lot of money as compared to the 25 or 50 NL table...
Thoughts on this? |

Re: No Limit v. Limit Which is more Profitable
For me, definitely no limit. I only started making good money after playing this game, maniacs don't really stand a chance and those trying for suckouts and miracles cards have to pay a very heavy price.
Besides, I find that so many people play the game incorrectly especially by minimum betting or betting/raising too small. My winnings at NL are primarily lost in short-handed 3/6 or higher. i should just stick to nl. |

I think the risk/reward ratio is better (for non-experts like myself) at limit. Once I've mastered the 100/200 game at Stars I plan to start over at $25 NL and teach myself that area of the game. jHE |

Re: No Limit v. Limit Which is more Profitable
Hi Scotty:
If you play well and your opponents are weak, no limit is far more profitable. The problem is that no limit games frequently burn out while limit games stay good for a very long time. On the other hand, with so many new players coming into poker, the good no limit games (on the Internet) may also last for a while. Best wishes, Mason |

Re: No Limit v. Limit Which is more Profitable
I do fair much better at the No Limit tables at UB, typically the $50 NL. The only issue is that if I head to a casino (Foxwoods), limit is really the only game being offered (I play 5/10) and 1 pot limit game (5/5 for blinds and min buyin at $100). I would like to try the PLHE game, But what amount would be needed to play this: 300, 500, 1000 etc?

Re: No Limit v. Limit Which is more Profitable
Foxwoods has been spreading a 5-5/$100 buy-in Pot Limit game almost every night since early August. On slow nights it might not get started until 10 or 11, but on busy tourney nights it goes early and lasts until sunrise. Just get your name on the interest list at the 5-10 board. On weekends it can go from Thu night until Mon morning.
Great game, it can fluctuate from slow paced to insanely rich with a new player joining the table or a run of good hands. The buy-in is low ($100), and you can sit and play for a while on it, but sitting down with a deep rack and some bills tucked in there allows you to play that monster hand when you get it. I usually play Tues, Thu and the occaisional weekend. The regular PL crew are a good bunch, you'll enjoy the game. Only negative is that the dealers are just getting used to the game. There are some that are incredible and others that the players have to help along. I would assume that during WPF the games will be larger and I'm sure more regular. POT?! |
