AK got run over
I have found myself paying off better hands on hands like this way to often in my poker career.
I played a very similar hand 2-3 days ago when I had the same hand (AK), and the flop came the same AT8r, and i got stacked by T8... I don't know if this "new" line was much better but... ** Game ID 619152167 starting - 2005-12-20 23:24:30 ** Wedding Day [Hold 'em] (0.50|1.00 No Limit - Cash Game) Real Money - sauce123 sitting in seat 1 with $23.50 - robster24 sitting in seat 2 with $95.50 - Roblestein sitting in seat 3 with $276.15 - Pokerfigh sitting in seat 4 with $114.54 - sjprep100 sitting in seat 5 with $49.99 [Sitting out] - SwollenMembe sitting in seat 6 with $29.50 - Dazen sitting in seat 7 with $98.50 - tk222 sitting in seat 8 with $91.85 - Flyhussla sitting in seat 9 with $88.30 - balos32 sitting in seat 10 with $33.95 [Dealer] sauce123 posted the small blind - $0.50 robster24 posted the big blind - $1.00 ** Dealing card to Dazen: King of Clubs, Ace of Hearts Roblestein folded Pokerfigh folded SwollenMembe folded Dazen raised - $4.00 tk222 called - $4.00 Flyhussla folded balos32 folded sauce123 folded robster24 folded ** Dealing the flop: 10 of Spades, 8 of Diamonds, Ace of Clubs Dazen bet - $7.00 tk222 raised - $28.00 Dazen called - $28.00 ** Dealing the turn: Jack of Spades Dazen checked tk222 bet - $35.00 Dazen folded tk222 mucks: tk222 wins $97.50 from the main pot End of game 619152167 At the time i was fairly confident i was beat (cuz the only hand i am really beating is AQ?). But then i checked PT just before posting this, and it shows villain was 81/14 over 40 hands..! Does this change anything? thanks |

Re: AK got run over
I keep a small notepad.exe document with some simple things to remind myself of when playing. I added the following to that list yesterday:
Do NOT call large raises with only one pair. Remember, with stats like that, you'll find a much better situation to stack this donkey. Open up your starting hands a tad, and wait for the payoff when HE is the one calling with one pair. |

Re: AK got run over
Don't call the flop raise and fold to the inevitable turn bet.
Make a decision on the flop to either fold (probably the right decision in most cases), call down or raise. |
