Miracle at Planet
I've seen my share of miraculous tournament comebacks at the various online poker rooms, but nothing close to this.
Multi-table PL HE tourney with 38 players. We're down to the final 3. Number 4 was a no-show who got this far by winning something like 8 all-ins toward the end, another too-frequent occurrence online, but I digress. Final 3 consists of Massive Chip Leader with 4000+ chips, me with 1200, and another guy down to his last 40 (that is not a typo: forty chips.) Massive chip leader has been playing very strong, raising almost every hand, stealing lots of blinds, and hitting all kinds of hands along the way. Naturally, he keeps this up by constantly raising both of us. Low Stack Man proceeds to win 12 all-ins, 11 of which required a direct hit on the river to beat a stronger hand. Along the way he took me out with 64o that he called preflop UTG and I went all-in with QQ. I figured his luck had to run out sooner or later, but I was wrong. He caught a straight on the river to beat my set. Mr. Low Stack eventually drained Massive Chip Leader and won the darned thing. 40 chips to 4000. 12 all-ins. Now that's a comeback. T |

another too-frequent occurrence online [/ QUOTE ] What proof do you have of that? If the 40 chip guy never wins 12 allins, now that would be more odd than that he did. Now it sux to be on the receiving end of the stick, we have all been there, and will be there again, but to claim that online poker at planet makes for more allins to win than in RL makes you a KOOK, present some proof or I'll send you down to Granny for a week, am sure she will get the KOOKdom outa you ! Fish at my table just won 12 out of last 14 pots, Lovely |

that wasnt the claim, he was complaining about how a dead stack could win.

Re: Miracle at Planet
I didn't say that online poker at Planet makes for more all-ins to win. When I said "another too-frequent occurrence online" I was referring to people who register but never show up (dead stacks) who make it to the final table. I hate it when a no-show can finish in the money. If your ass isn't in the seat, you shouldn't get paid.
Anyway, I meant for my main point to be about the guy who was down to his last 40 chips and hit 11 perfect rivers out of 12 all-ins to beat the 4000+ chip leader. I had never seen anything like it. T ps. How old is your Granny? |

Re: Miracle at Planet
Ok
Very seldom noShows end up in the money, but they contribute quite a bit to the prizepool. I have slept off on a few up to 50$ buyin and never been close to the money. |

Re: Miracle at Planet
No shows may contribute to the pot, but it's sure hard to build a stack when you're at a table with a few of them. At the lower priced Planet tourneys, it's not unusual to have 5-6 no shows at a table for the first 30 minutes or so. I was at a $5 buy-in the other day and there were only 2 live players at my starting table and 8 no shows. That's just ridiculous.
But I know why people do it. You can show up 30-60 minutes late and not have your stack dwindle too much. It's easier than sitting there folding all the time as the loose early play knocks out all the jokers, although you do miss the occasional chance to take advantage. T |

TVDad,
The players in the tournament, especially those close to the bubble, are making serious errors if no shows are getting in the $$. -Mike |

Re: Miracle at Planet
Yes, it usually takes some pretty risky/dumb play to have a no show get in the money, but I've also seen it happen when the no show wins a bunch of all-ins toward the end, as was almost the case in this tourney.
