AK vs. over-aggressive player, QQ
did i go too far here? villains preflop range isn't very well defined, except for not being total trash. i figured with the pot as big as it is from preflop and his style it was the right play to make.

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player
I think the Q really kills you here. Hands he might play like this include AK, AQ, and any pp>77. Before the river you were ahead of 12 hands, and chopping with 9, so I don't mind a call down. However, with the coming of the Q your best hope is a chop against a non-maniac. I grudgingly c/f this river.

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player
yeah i think it's hard because when i just sit down like i did here, i either assume they can't get off high cards or they actually have a hand. a lot of times i find it's the former though, and calling down seems to work.

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player
Don't like the 2nd hand. With so many players behind you, I think it's raise or fold time. You can force out gutshots and maybe the odd pair of 8/9's drawing to 5 outs against you, but the bigger problem with calling is you really don't have the odds to hit your Q/running straight, you're not driving out hands that might improve to beat you if your hand is still good, and it might well get raised behind you anyway, and then we're putting in way too much money given our hand, the board, and the field.
First hand really depends on your read. I didn't get a clear picture of what you thought of him at the time (undefined and overaggressive, so LAGish/maniac tendencies, or are you just very uncertain?). LAGish/maniac call, otherwise like Jax said the Q kind of kills any hope you have of winning against a quasi-reasonable player. |

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player
yeah good point on the second hand. in the first one what i meant was, he had been aggro in the few hands i'd seen so far but i didn't have PT stats yet.

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player, QQ
Fold the river on the first hand. There is no reasonable hand that the villian has that you have beat. Possibly AJ. Maybe a split with AK.
Raise the flop on the 2nd hand. UTG could be on the draw, and you can buy the button from the CO and take the free card if SB or BB also come along for the ride. |

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player, QQ
in the first hand, even with a big pot and an opponent who looks very aggro, i should't call for one more bet?
i agree with either raise or fold flop on the second one. |

Maybe AJ, and split with AK. Just because the pot is large doesn't mean you have to give him another BB. The queen pretty much sealed the deal on the river, since AQ was a hand you could have hoped that he had. If the river was a blank, then a call would have been fine. |

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player, QQ
that's why i mentioned a read. anyway, perhaps your right, i should wait until i know he's a LAG/maniac.
