10-20 I played it like crap, but I don\'t care.
10-20 Mirage
Guy who could be raising with any 2 open raises in EP in this currently 7 handed game. Unknown "between the SB and button" poster calls, I call in the SB with Ad7d, Fishy straightforward BB calls. Flop: [As Ac 6s] Poster checks, I am flinging my bet out and BB has 2 chips already in front of him. When informed that I hadn't acted and that I bet, he tried to raise, but the dealer wouldn't let him. Preflop raiser bails and poster calls. 3 to the turn for 5.5BBs. Turn: [As Ac 6s] Qs. Poster checks, I bet, BB raises all in to $35, Poster makes it $55, I call $35 more in the $210 pot because...well...because I've got an ace dammit and I'm not folding. I fling my chips out and root for a queen. I get an ace. And suddenly I don't care how I played it poorly on every street against BB's 66 and SB's flush. And you know what...I still don't. I got 4 freaking aces. Ship it. |

Re: 10-20 I played it like crap, but I don\'t care.
One thing I don't understand. You said, "I call in the SB with Ad7d", but you also said, " I played it poorly on every street against BB's 66 and SB's flush". I thought you were the SB??
You didn't play it poorly on every street. You could have checked-raised the flop but with this flop why would you? The turn bet is one that is questionable leaving you open to a checkraise or re-raise from somewhere. Which happend. The river, well you have the nuts how can you mess this up? So I don't think it is a bad as you think it is. Ed S. |

LOL!
"Ship it!" is right. Ev doesn't pay the bills - 4 Aces does.
Or better yet, tell them what I told my friend when he got it all in, in the last hand of a NL tourney with 56s against my 8-2 on the 874 flop - and I runnered home a boat. "I don't know what you got, but I have a full house! Ship it!" |

Re: 10-20 I played it like crap, but I don\'t care.
Clarkmeister, you really need a refresher course on what "playing like crap" is. Granted, you had to figure you were drawing to at best 3 outs (BB probably has the case ace), at worst 2 for a split pot. So you made a bad call. That's a 2 BB mistake. 3 if you count the initial turn bet. It's not a mistake that cost you an entire pot...
I've provided a good example of "playing like crap" below. It's from a post on the pot-/no-limit board from a couple weeks ago, by FMajcinek. Ultimatebet, no-limit, .25-.50 blinds. $50 max buy-in. I find A [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] K [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] in the BB. Happily, there are a 4 limpers, no raises. I pop my BB for 3.00. Two limpers fold, two others flat-call. (Both callers are weak/passive tend to call nearly ANY bet short of all-in once they have invested money in the pot, so I'm not terribly worried.) Flop: 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/forums/images/icons/spade.gif[/img] With little or no read on my opponents I bet it out for 5.00 (just under half the pot) certain that a) If they don't have a nine or a four they will fold, b) if they do have a 9 or a four they will raise right there and let me release the hand and c) if they have an over-pair they will flat-call, thus giving me more than enough implied odds to draw. So they both called. Turn: 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] Everybody checks. River: 4 [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] I double-check the board to make sure that I'm seeing quads. I double check my hole cards to make sure that I have the ace. I've never actually been in this situation before so I bet $5 again just to see what every body else does. Well, the fellow on my left re-raised ALL-IN (about $45). The guy on the button folds, but SHOWS an AJ. Now totally confused, I call the guy. He flips a QJ and I win a $100+ pot. When I asked AJ why he folded he said: "i think he trap me." When I asked him to clarify that statement he said: "i think he have a nine." I didn't bother to tell him that quads-and-a-pair isn't a legitimate poker hand. When I asked the guy why he bet EVERY CENT HE HAD ON THE TABLE with a QJ he said: "I was making a move." And also refused to clarify. I had to sit out the next ten hands I was laughing so hard. |

Rusty, you cant fold show while there is still action pending.
Clarkmeister, do you usually call early position raises with Axs? Or was this an unusual situation? |
