Default If Rounders was written today....

you know that scene where he's broke? - It'd be changed to this...

You don't hear much about guys who take their shot and miss. But I'll tell you what happened to them. They end up humping crappy jobs on graveyard shifts trying to figure out how they came up short.

Or else they might stay up all night looking at computer screens that look like this.

playing out the last pennies of their online accounts while waiting for their next deposit to clear - LOL.

Nah, he really doesn't need outs with the kings if he can get it all-in preflop.

Plus taking a shot doesn't mean using your whole roll, you should have enough to stay in your main game.

I agree with the OP, that movie would be very different in the age of online poker. I just saw it for the first time and it seemed quite unrealistic because of the absence of it. Gotta rebuild after a flame out? No problem, bonus whoring. Gotta pay TeddyKGB $15,000 in 2 weeks? No problem, buy a couple sixpacks of Red Bull and hole up with an internet connection. Girlfriend opposed to you playing poker? No problem, laptop and library, nuff said. Wanna play in the WSOP but don't have $10,000? No problem, tourneys and satellite tourneys.

BTW, if anybody else hasn't seen Rounders yet, you can see it free on the web right now with a free trial subscription to CinemaNow - they just added it to their choices this past week.

That's sad to hear Bob. I look up to you as a low limit survivalist. I've been having some trouble lately myself as well. Do you think it's coincidence or are the games getting tougher?

I think I'm partly a sucky player...and I think my AA is holding up quite as well against 94o anymore.
I also think it would be nice if my sets would stop running into 4-flush boards...and if my flushes would stop running into heavy-action on boards that pair by the river ("you mean I'm losing to another boat yet again?!?! oh well. have another BB on me because there's no freaking way I can't pay-off here.")

Other possibility is that bigbiceps and others are correct and that Party simply decided that I had won enough and they threw the doom-switch on me.

I don't think the games are significantly tougher although there is some post-flop trickery from even the fishier players. But that always seems to be the case when you are seemingly losing on river after river.

When you're winning they just seem like idiot-fish.
When you're getting creamed they seem like only semi-idiot-fish with some tricky moves.
