Default Flopped trips, facing an overbet

I know Villain on this hand is a very good player, but I am unfamiliar with his style of play.

I more or less rejected 88 or 78 as possibilities out of hand, so I'm deciding if this overbet represents an overpair (I felt this unlikely), a bigger seven or a draw.

Any advice for other things that I should consider at this point before making a decision?

i would call the flop here to not scare out mp so it looks like a flush draw. I am undecided on check/calling an all-in or just pushing myself. I lean towards pushing so it goes in. Button probably has a big draw, JTss/9Tss/A9ss+.

This is almost never a 7.

I'd call, usually when someone pushes like that, they have a flush draw and are looking just to pick up a pot with a semibluff. No way a set does that, and a better 7 wouldn't likely do that either.

Worst case scenario is 9T of spades.

9T also has tainted outs against heros hand, so it's not a bad situation.

Very true, its essensially a gutshot+flush draw, or 12 outs.

usually even less than almost never. I'd say naked 8, over pair or flush draw.
