Default Back in Limit - JJ against overcards

So after getting the stuffing kicked out of me in NL this past week I decided to come back to limit and see if that would help turn my game around. SO far so good… but I ran into a problem that I would like some input on.

I have been at the table for about 45 minutes and in that time played 4 hands, 2 from the blinds and never made it to showdown on any. The villain recently sat.

Villian is in CO.
Hero is button.

Folds around to villain who limps. Hero gets JJ and raises. Folds to villain who calls.

Flop is A84 rainbow. Villain checks, hero bets, villain calls.
Turn (4bb) is a 5 to complete the rainbow. Villain checks, hero bets, villain calls.
River (6bb) is A. Villain bets. Hero ???

Any reason to believe that I am not beat here? Is this a fold?

Thanks

Call. An ace would likely have raised the turn. I say Villan showed you 77.

Ok good - I didnt like a fold here either. I called and he showed and Ace/Trash that he shouldnt have ever called a raise with. Good to know I had the right thinking. SSHE is back in the commute bag.

Good call down. For one bet you need to know what villian was playing and keep him from taking shots at you on the river. Make a note that he plays A trash and move on. Now you have a better read for next time.

I think that villian was likely thinking "well my ace must be good now that there is only one left in the deck" and bet into you.

Sorry, I misread your post when I originally replied. I would've played it the same. Good call.
