Shortstacked MP calls, Hero (MP2) raises with AxJh, Button calls, BB calls, MP calls.

Flop T83 two hearts. BB checks, MP bets, Hero raises, Button calls two cold, BB folds, MP threebets, Hero calls, Button calls.

Turn offsuit Jack. MP goes allin for $35, Hero thinks about raising then sees Button has lots of chips in hand, Hero calls, Button ends up just calling.

River Ace of hearts. Hero pauses for a few seconds, then bets. Button raises. Hero calls.

What was your thinking behind the flop raise?

Short stack may be leading into me with a wide range of hands, most likely a pair but often times some type of draw. I'm trying to thin the field/buy outs to give myself a better chance to win the pot. I have some backdoor draws and two overs and sometimes I'll even have the best hand. If I kick out button I win position and I may buy myself a free card

I think the flop raise is kind of silly. The pot is too big, I don't think you're getting many people to fold here. Especially if they have a pair.

I don't play live so it's hard for me to weight live tells properly. But online I'm raising this turn every single time, especially on this very drawy board.

If you had a read on the Button for being experienced this is probally a tell that he doesnt want you to raise him so he can draw to his hand.

For me its -

1 - I still might have the best hand here.
2 - I sometimes have to play overs like I have a big hand.
3 - If the button folds and leader just calls, it's 50-50 on whether I take the free card or bet.
4 - If the button calls 2 cold he's almost certain to be on a draw.

Why is he coldcalling the flop and not raising the turn?

I figure the river is a "win 1 lose 2 bets situation". I have to win 1 bet 3 times to show a profit for every 1 time I call a raise and lose.

I'm comfortable bet/folding with hands I don't want to show down, but hate paying off with top 2. I want to show it down and don't mind ch/c here.

This is not true, especially not in multiway pots.

You are right, for some reason I just thought he was truly preparing to raise me, but I was tricked
