Tough spot in SB, live game
$1/$2 NL, home game, 10 handed. The game is pretty loose, not too passive, not too aggressive. Everybody buys in for $100.
I am in SB with AJ [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 5 limpers to the button who makes it $12 to go. Button loves to steal/bluff and could easy raise with small suited connectors in this spot. 50% that I am ahead of the button. I decided to just call because: 1. I did not want to isolate the button who could possible have a better A. 2. I knew I was getting a company and my hand plays well in multiway pots. 3. My hand is too good to fold here despite position. Anyway, every single limper including BB calls 8 people to the flop, pot size is $96 Flop comes J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Note: poket JJ would definitely raise preflop and pocket 99 would probably raise preflop as well. I have about $80 left. I am first to act. What’s my plan? |

Re: Tough spot in SB, live game
Fold pre-flop, but since you came to the party you might as well dance. Push it all in and hope another heart doesn't hit. Hopefully button has AK or AQ and not AA-JJ.

Re: Tough spot in SB, live game
Yuck. I would probably fold that pre-flop..
Not having done so? I probably push it in if I think BN's range is closer to missed overs then AA-JJ |

I probably push it in if I think BN's range is closer to missed overs then AA-JJ [/ QUOTE ] Given the OP's description of button, I definately push here. Take 'er down. The bad thing about preflop is that you have to play a mediocre hand OOP after the flop, so a fold could easily be argued as good here. If you think you have the pfr beat, then push preflop, unless you have good reason to suspect you can stack her postflop. |
