This little gem was just approved by the Scottsdale AZ city council. There have been cameras on the surface streets around PHX for years now, but this is the first time that speeding cameras have been installed on a freeway anywhere in the US AFAIK. If this program is successful (and it no doubt will be) look for money hungry municipalities all over the country to try and cash in. It's not even the threat of getting a ticket that I mind. In the not too distant future I envision it being close to impossible to go anywhere with out the govt knowing about it - picture cameras that can read lic plates in real time on every interstate entry and exit ramp in the country. Fun times ahead.
