Need help, feel stupid

This may be a stupid question, but I'm really stuck on it.

Assuming equal player skill, would it be fair to trade a 10% stake in a tournament that will have 350 entrants for a 10% stake in a tournament that will have 1000 entrants? Top 10% pay out in each case.

And if not, what is a fair deal?
