Default Value bet or chip spewing?

Villain is 76/22/1.5 over about 50 hands. I had just joined the table, so I had not been watching him and was playing strictly on the basis of his stats. Table is running extremely loose and aggressive with stats of 45/11.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) converter

Hero ($24.25)
BB ($21.40)
UTG ($17.05)
UTG+1 ($6.90)
MP1 ($14.96)
MP2 ($20.35)
MP3 ($21.55)
CO ($24.10)
Button ($27.10)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.10.
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, MP1 calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP3 calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $1</font>, BB folds, MP1 calls $1, MP3 folds.

I figure I have the best hand here, so might as well bet it.

Turn: ($3) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $2</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises to $5</font>, Hero calls $3.

Not sure if I'm still good or not, but I decide to fire at it again. Not sure about the call either, but given villain's stats, he could have anything.

River: ($13) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, MP1 calls $8.71 (All-In), Hero calls $8.71.

Final Pot: $30.42

Correct play here to lead again? If not, was the call any good?

Villain didn't raise pre-flop, so his possible holdings would seem to be: nothing, a raggedy ace, random two-pair, or a pair of fives, with the raggedy ace being the most likely.

I'm getting almost 3:1 and I think I'm ahead here more than 33% of the time, so I call.

Even with the reads I look for something better than this. I could c/f the flop in full ring.
