polltard. [/ QUOTE ] yes. also, to add some content to this thread i heard the jackpot becomes +ev sometime around 250k or something, so i was playing some BBJ tables today but its hard to get seats. every table has 10 players with a waiting list it seems. |

Scroll down a bit until you get to the BBJ section. It's very easily +EV now (assuming it hasn't been hit in the hour or two since I logged off of Party). However...as always, it depends on the game. If you're passing up a fishfest on a regular table in order to take a shot on a fairly tight BBJ table, then the EV you lose via table selection more than cancels out your jackpot equity. |

and I still dispute these numbers.
it's just one person's calculations. There IS some logic behind it if course....but I'm not entirely convinced that it's correct. |

[/ QUOTE ] I calculated these numbers about a year ago (whenever they decided to change their qualifying hand to quad 8's and added the 20% keep for redistributing). My number wasn't the same as BonusWhores', or the 250K, but it was close, around the same ballpark. I'm certain that it is +EV when >= 300k, and around 200k, it's probably a wash. Less and I won't play. |

Re: how long will you wait to go play on the growing party bbj?
Really? I was playing them yesterday and saw a few fairly empty tables for a while. I was in a couple 10/20 games that were 4-5 handed and even played one heads up for a little while.
Aside: Would playing heads up on a BBJ table be a good idea? I feel like it is since the regular rake is still capped at $1 and we would get more of the prize money, right? |

Re: how long will you wait to go play on the growing party bbj?
i played around for a couple hours one day trying to figure out the odds of a bad beat jackpot hitting, and you have to make a lot of assumptions about how people play their hands to determine it. it's not THAT difficult to calculate the chance of one hitting under best case scenarios (ie everyone plays all hands thru to the river), but obviously your chances are much smaller. google "brian alspach" for some good stuff on the web although he notes the limitations to his guesswork. anyone that argues a specific specific set-in-stone # is wrong.
w/that said, the current jackpot is still easily +EV |
