Default Bet or Check?

4 handed game, my button.

Sansone limps. I raise with A7o. Betsysue calls in the SB, Steve95 calls in the big blind.

Flop Tc 5s Ad; I bet and only Sansone folds.

Turn 4d. I bet and nobody folds.

River 3s. If it's checked to me can I bet?

Steve plays too loose pre and postflop, plays too aggro postflop with hands that most people would stop a bet or two sooner with. He pushes a lot of things hard so him check/calling suggests to me says he likely does not have top pair. His range can include any straight draw (broadway or wheel), as well as any non top pair. I think about the same hand description is likely for Betsysue, though it's slightly more likely she has an ace. If she has an ace it's likely to be a small one since she did not three bet PF. She plays a little better than Steve both pre and postflop. I think a ten is probably paying off a river bet though that too isn't a guarantee.

The flop has broadway draws, so it seems unlikely that either of these players wouldn't play an ace faster. A3/A2 would probably bet this river too, right? Seems like a bet to me.

You only beat A6, what do you think they are going to pay off with? a T?

I'd rather check and hope A8A9 doesnt bet the river or someone with a T gets frisky and bets it.

Given your description, I think you have an easy river value bet. Sounds like a good game.

If you check, you don't need to hope. The hand is over.

The texture of how things have been going are a big deciding factor imo, not having seen the last 30ish hands it's hard to guess from here how the wheel would play this river since it seems likely you're checking behind after getting 2 calls on the turn with alot of hands.

I'm betting here, if I'm going to play alot of hours with these people I want them thinking harder before making light turn calls in hopes of cheap showdowns.

I'd check, the A9 that didn't fold before is not folding now either.

Anyone who calls should have you beat.

You really think that someone has A9 the way this hand was played? Id be floored if anyone actually had an Ace, much less A9.

Bet and fold to a raise. I dont think you can raise preflop and not bet this the whole way down without betting river. THe board is scary, but I dont think anyones cr a straight fearing a check behind. Also any better ace you would have heard from on flop or turn.

Hmm, I dont think the bet is as easy as most. I think this is very close, possibly collecting 2 BBs from them is tough to pass up, however, it also seems likely that one of them may have you beat. If you are really certain that a 10 calls you on this river than maybe a bet is worth it. If I was in your spot here and paused to think about it, I think I would check here - I certianly cant hate a bet though.
