Learning to analyze play
I have just begun using PT to analyze my play. If you asked me before I started tracking, I would say that I was tight/semi-aggressive. I have tracked 5500 hands so far and would like to know the best way to analyze my progress. I know that I'm in the middle of a downswing (whatever that means), so I'm not that worried about my -BB/100. However, if there is something obvious that I'm not doing, I'd sure like to fix the leak.
I understand that there are not enough hands tracked to get a real idea of where I'm at...should I be thinking 10k? Here are my initial stats-- VP$IP - 14.24 -- Won WSF 28% -- BB/100 -1.79-- Won at SD 53.50-- PFR 4.79-- Total Agression 1.31 Are these the main things that I should be looking at? I have a great desire to continue improving my play and appreciate any thoughts or advice. Should I loosen up AND be more aggressive? Or maybe just be more aggressive with the hands I start with? Thanks kstew |

In general, analyzing your play is a matter of studying individual hands and situations, not looking at statistics. However, your numbers suggest that you are far too tight and too passive. |

Re: Learning to analyze play
Check the FAQ for stats info.
You play too tight and are way too passive. I'd love to have you on my left. I can steal the blinds and/or buy the button at will, and you'll let me know if you have a hand. You need to be much more aggressive. Again, check the FAQ for more info on particular stats. For comparison, my stats from full ring: VP$IP: 19.16 PFR: 9.38 AF: 2.61 There is no perfect way to play poker, but you generally could play a few more hands and be more aggressive with them. |

Re: Learning to analyze play
Ok, ok...I get it. Too tight, too passive. I'll read the FAQ and hopefully repost in several thousand hands with a progress report.
